Welcome to Country
‘Welcome to Country’ is an ancient traditional ceremony performed by the Traditional Custodians of the Land. The ceremony is usually performed by an elder or senior representative of the local Aboriginal community and is a formal welcome to visitors or a special occasion or event.

An "Acknowledgement of Country" is a way that all people can show respect for Aboriginal culture and heritage and the ongoing relationship the Traditional Custodians have with the Land. At the beginning of a meeting or function, a Chair or Speaker begins by Acknowledging that the meeting is taking place in the Country of the Traditional Custodians. Where the name of the Traditional Custodians is known, it is specifically used. These ceremonies, conducted in the traditional dialect of the Wardandi with an English translation, add a unique and educational element to any event.

Welcome to Country Ceremonies offer a unique and culturally enlightened alternative to commemorate special occasions like weddings and community events or as a spiritual blessing at ‘breaking ground’ ceremonies, festivals or even for people purchasing land for their home.
